Roofing Estimator

We’re working with a specialist industrial roofing and refurbishment contractor looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator. Based from Northamptonshire with nationwide site and client visits, this role will suit someone who combines practical roofing knowledge, accurate estimating and the confidence to turn enquiries into profitable work.

Location: Northamptonshire

Remuneration: £50,000–£60,000 + company car + performance bonus

About the Company

Our client delivers roofing and cladding refurbishment for commercial and industrial buildings across the UK. Its services include roof replacement, overcladding, flat roofing, maintenance and commercial solar PV, with much of its work delivered directly for building owners and occupiers.

The business is strengthening its estimating function as it grows, with typical opportunities discussed ranging from £250,000 to £1 million.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of opportunities from site survey and solution development through to pricing, client follow-up and award. Your responsibilities will include:

• Surveying roofs and identifying appropriate refurbishment solutions.
• Preparing detailed estimates and quotations, interpreting drawings and specifications, and obtaining supplier and subcontractor prices.
• Pricing strip and re-sheet, overcladding, encapsulation, asbestos cement roof solutions, single-ply systems and flat roof refurbishment.
• Presenting proposals, handling client questions and following quotations through to a decision.
• Building new and existing client relationships and maintaining an accurate opportunity pipeline.
• Working with buying, contracts and operations to support a clear handover of secured work.

The preferred pattern is two to three days in the Northamptonshire office and around two days on site or visiting clients, with greater office attendance during onboarding.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll bring estimating experience in industrial or commercial roofing refurbishment, practical knowledge of roofing systems and confidence carrying out surveys and recommending solutions.

We’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate how they’ve won work after submitting a quotation. Strong communication, commercial judgement, IT skills and organisation are essential, alongside willingness to travel nationally. Commercial solar PV experience would be useful.
